THE SUNGAI VILLAS + SPA BALI

The Sungai is a high concept, exclusive villa development that combining an organic architectural approach with an ultra modern design aesthetic and high tech facilities, The Sungai will comprise eight fully serviced residences of one, two and three bedrooms surrounding a central spa facility, restaurant, bar, lounge and executive meeting area equipped with all corporate facilities.

THE SETTING

The Sungai is located in the serene and undulating coastal plains of Pererenan, Canggu just 5 minutes from pristine beaches and thundering pacific surf, including one of the best surf breaks on the island overlooked by the tranquil Echo Beach Café. You are 10 minutes from The Nirwana golf course (designed by none other than golfing legend Greg Norman) and the cliff top temple of Tanah Lot, while the sleek bars and restaurants of style-setting Seminyak can be reached in 15 minutes and the international airport in 30 minutes.

The River.

Water in motion. An unbroken flow winding through a changing landscape, reflecting the shifting light of day and night and half-light. Its voice made up of countless smaller sounds, creating a beguiling rhythm. Deep currents that might easily carry you far, far away adrift on forgotten impulses…

The Mosaic.
Distinct elements harmoniously woven together. A blend of colours, shapes and patterns drifting one into the other. A whole that is greater than the sum of its parts…
The Sungai.
The river; the mosaic; nature’s elements. The Sungai is inspired by all of these, bringing each into play through imagination and a deep reverence for the land from which it emerges. Just as the river flows, so do The Sungai’s discrete architectural elements merge with one another. Echoing the stepped rice paddies that surround it, The Sungai is built on multiple levels. Its villas, each unique, each complementary, curve sinuously inward, with their neighbours creating a carefully integrated tapestry and a symmetry that lies just beyond your reach… nature’s mosaic.

As soon as you approach The Sungai, you realise you are not just entering a physical space, but a carefully created ambience which begins with the specially commissioned mosaic decorating the outer wall facing The Sungai’s private road. Glass is ingeniously used throughout the property, offering unobstructed views of tranquil ponds reflecting the play of light through the day and roof gardens planted with iridescent grasses that ripple and murmur under the light coastal breezes. Commissioned art works – carefully selected sculptures and contemporary paintings –adorn both public and private spaces. The Sungai’s villas are accessed from a circular walkway built around the the spa/restaurant/meeting complex. As soon as you leave this public sphere, you step into an entirely private and unique space – your component part of the mosaic…
